III.        OUTREACH INITIATIVES

The following outreach initiatives were completed by the SEU during the reporting period:

A.        Events with Educational Institutions:

1.  May 7, 2013, KRLA General Sales Manager taught a class at Southern California Broadcasting University (“SCBU”). Topics of discussion included careers in the radio broadcasting industry, managing businesses and sales techniques.

2.  January 11, 2013 Director of News and Public Affairs attended the Pasadena City College advisory meeting to advise the school on trends in the industry and to outreach on behalf of Salem Los Angeles about our employment opportunities and about possible approved internships. The SEU provided employment packets outlining the procedures to apply for various positions and a list of job functions at the station.

B.        Job Fairs:

At each of these job fairs, the SEU distributed applications, accepted resumes and discussed information pertaining to the job vacancies at the SEU with the attendees.

2.  July 18, 2013 - Sales Managers attended the L.A.’s LARGEST MIXER

at the Shrine Auditorium.

C.        Internship Program:

The objective of this program is to allow college students the chance to work with a major market media group. Through this experience, the student is able to learn more about the broadcasting industry and better evaluate if it is a career path they would choose.  The Promotions and Sales Department work with the students in establishing their schedules and what best fit with the station group agenda. The SEU hosted three interns during this reporting period:

1.    One student from California State University Dominguez Hills interned in October 2012.

2.    One student from Pasadena City College interned in January 2013.

D.        Management Training Programs:

Training sessions via teleconference and Powerpoint presentations, which includes review of EEO policies and compliance. The SEU’s Office Manager participates in these training sessions each month and then routinely communicates with the SEU’s General Manager and other management team members to keep all employees apprised of the company and SEU’s policy on equal employment.
